How do I book my assessment/therapy session/service?
You can schedule follow-up appointments directly with your practitioner or through our online booking system. Visit our contact page for more details.
Are services confidential?
All information at Healthy Minds Collective, including communications and records relating to psychological assessment, therapy, and mediation is confidential and may not be disclosed without your written consent. Psychologists and Mediators are required to break confidentiality under exceptional circumstances, and these circumstances will be reviewed with you during your first visit.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to receive services?
A referral from a physician is not required to schedule an appointment. It is important to note that some health-benefit providers may require a physician’s referral before providing reimburesement of fees paid for services. It is recommended to check with your insurance provider to determine if this is needed.
What happens during the first appointment?
The initial session usually involves gathering information through an interview, followed by an overview of a proposed plan for therapy sessions or a psychological assessment tailored to your needs. Clients may be asked to complete psychological questionnaires or tests to assist in understanding the presenting concerns and measuring progress in therapy.

Please note: For child and adolescent services (under 18), the initial session is for PARENTS ONLY. This allows the clinician to meet with the consenting guardians, gather background and presenting information about the minor, and clarify goals and treatment plans with the parent(s).
What is a registered psychologist?
A registered psychologist is an educated and trained health professional specializing in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health concerns. In Alberta, psychologists are regulated by the College of Alberta Psychologists, ensuring they meet strict standards for professional and competent service. Becoming a registered psychologist requires at least a master’s degree in psychology, completion of supervised practice, passing required exams, and meeting the registration standards set by the College of Alberta Psychologists. At Healthy Minds Collective, we uphold these rigorous standards, and our practice is guided by ethical principles and professional standards.
Can a registered psychologist prescribe medications?
Registered psychologists do not prescribe medications. If a psychologist feels a client may benefit from medication, we can assist with the referral process and with communication with an appropriate prescribing medical professional.
Is consent needed for my child to see a registered psychologist?
In accordance with Alberta law, individuals who are 18 years of age or older may consent for mental health services provided by a psychologist without permission from legal guadians. Children and adolescents who are under the age of 18 require consent from their legal guardians. For shared custody arrangements, consent from both legal guardians is required to proceed with services. For sole custody arrangements, consent from the sole custodial guardian is required.

Your clinician may require documentation to verify consent has been appropriately obtained  prior to the provision of services.
Do you direct bill insurance?
At this time, our clinic does not offer direct billing, however, you can submit your receipt for eligible services to your insurance provider on the date of service.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours advance notice for appointment changes or cancellations, which must be communicated via email to Healthy Minds Collective. Fees will be charged for missed sessions without proper notice, and payment must be arranged before scheduling a new appointment. Appointments cancelled without 48 hours notice will be charged in full. Cancellation fees may be waived in exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of Healthy Minds Collective.
What are the clinic’s hours of operation?
Healthy Minds Collective offers a variety of session times depending on your provider. Our general hours are between 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
